Alfa Romeo: The new GTV and 8C won’t happen and they will be replaced by SUVs

Alfa Romeo has a very long history in producing sport car models, and not all the Alfisti, but also most of the people who can appreciate a truly sport car model, were surprised on hearing back at June 2018 that the group Fiat Chrysler Automobiles was planning to launch a new GTV and
a new 8C sometime in the year 2022. But, unfortunately, it seems that this won’t happen in the end, as a latest official announcement from FCA about the future plans of Alfa Romeo, states that any project about the revival of those two pure sport cars will be terminate. The reason is that the company will focus on launching three more new SUVs in the near future, apart from the Stelvio SUV that is already available at the markets. First of those new SUVs will be the production version of the Tonale concept, with two smaller SUVs to follow. So the only model that will be a “street car” and not an SUV in Alfa Romeo’s 2022 model portfolio would be the refreshed Giulia, as the Giulietta will also get the axe in favour of the SUVs.
