We live in an era that all the great auto firms "goes for the money" producing and promoting SUV models, sometimes axing normal car models from their line in favor toy the formers. Even historic firms that were producing only sports cars and supercars, like Porsche, Ferrari,
Lamborghini, etc., have started represented crossovers or huge SUVs. But it seems that there is at least one auto industry today, that will stick to its old recipe, that is building sports cars, supercars and hypercars only. Darren Goddard, director of McLaren's Sport Series division, told to Car Sales that "there is nothing cool about SUVs. They are all just chasing volume. It's not pure. Thinking about the difference between mass production and an exclusive product is quite different".
Mr. Goddard also admitted that McLaren has already started designing an EV model, but he stated that it won't be easy to make an EV model feel like the brand's traditional gas powered models.
