Nowadays, almost all car makers have not only
one, but many SUV models in their lineup, as they all want a big piece of this
particular part of the car market, where sales are skyrocketing year by year. Even
firms that traditionally make genuine sports cars, likePorsche, Lamborghini,
Ferrari, e.t.c., already have or are about to make at least one SUV with their
name on it. But there are one or two firms that have no intention to create a
SUV of their own. One of them is Koenigsegg. Recently Mr Christian von
Koenigsegg said in an interview that his hypercar company will not create a SUV
model, as he personally finds those cars as something “oxymoron”. Especially
the ones with high output.
The founder of Koenigsegg explains that the car makers build SUVs, which they know from the beginning that they behave poorly on the road, and then they try to fix their road behavior. Features like big wheels, high stance from the ground and high center of gravity can’t help a SUV to achieve “sport behavior”, at least not as the one that he personally expects from a genuine sport car.
